Enterprise Technology Services
Acquisitions Acquisitions is responsible for institutional purchasing and leasing computer hardware, software, and peripherals for Fordham University. Additionally, they assist departments with computer advice and finding the best possible price for all computer equipment.
Computer Services Computer Services is comprised of Research & Development and Computer Operations, which are primarily responsible for continued development, management and maintenance of Fordham's centralized computing environment throughout all campuses and satellite offices.
Network Engineering & Operations Network Engineering & Operations maintains the physical infrastructure. Internet connectivity and access to student information are easily reached via the modems, broadband, wired and wireless networks maintained by this group. Intercampus data and telephony connectivity as well as WAN and LAN design and implementation are also core activities of Network Services.
Technology Business Office Technology Business Office centralizes all IT business processes, such as purchase orders, check requests, travel arrangements, supply requisitions, work orders and all other general office functions. They maintain and archive all internal records.
Telecommunications Telecommunications is responsible for all landline telecommunications for the University. This includes telephone, voicemail, logging, analog modem as well as cabling. They also function as a billing agent for the University, billing monthly telephone and other associated Telecom costs to the various units of the University. 
User Support Services User Support Services is comprised of the Help Desk and the User Support technical staff. This group provides telephone and on campus support for all Students, Faculty, and Staff.


 
ITAC - Instructional Technology Academic Computing
Customer Relations

Customer Relations is committed to leading the Fordham IT organization in creating a culture of customer service.  They are dedicated to empowering and developing relationships with our constituents, building customer loyalty, and serving the University with individual pride and Fordham spirit.  As a new initiative and strategic goal, Customer Service is focused on developing programs to convert Fordham community members into satisfied constituents.

Faculty Technology Centers Faculty Technology Centers assist faculty with the integration of technology in teaching and research. This includes training in the use of common applications and techniques, smart classroom support, suggesting various tools to enhance the learning experience with technology, providing state of the art facilities for experimenting with new technologies, assisting in course material conversion and multimedia production. Additionally, the FTCs manage and provide support in the University's course management system, Blackboard.
Media Services Media Services advocates and augments Fordham University's academic and administrative endeavors by providing faculty, staff, and students with access to innovative multi-media technology. They are responsible for smart classrooms and video conferencing and endeavor to update existing facilities so that they remain state-of-the-art.

Student Technology Services

Student Technology Services is a reference to assist in locating and accessing various technology resources and services available at Fordham University.
Teaching Labs Teaching Labs provide space for faculty to teach classes that require the use of computers and provide students with access to computing. There are about 40 computer labs on the various Fordham campuses.
Technology Training

Technology Training provides members of the Fordham community with the technology available in the modern university, by offering training classes in various areas.


 

SSIA - Software Services & Information Access
Confirmare

SSIA directs the University's ERP project, consisting of Banner to replace SIS, HRS, FRS and Viking; Oracle for University data management; Luminis, as the University portal; Customer Relations Management; and Web FOCUS for management reporting.

Database Services Database Services defines and supports the information architecture that facilitates the location, interchange, security, usability, and interoperability of Fordham University's information resources.  They administer all Oracle and SQL Server databases, Oracle application servers, the Banner Database and other database driven applications.
Internet Services Internet Services is responsible for website infrastructure, including everything from web servers to online applications, such as Content Management Systems and the University Portal.  They are also responsible for web applications from user forms to web analytics and overall content integration and management.  Web Design/Development chairs the Web Policy Committee:  Assists University organizations in designing and developing departmental websites; develops and facilitates uploading of streaming video of University functions; and complies pictures, graphics, logos, templates, training materials, and style guides to assist all units with compliance of the University website look and feel.
Software Services Software Services enhances, integrates, maintains, and upgrades administrative enterprise software applications including; SIS, HRS, FRS, Viking, OASIS, and OASIS for Faculty.

Enterprise Project Management
  • Oversees all aspects of IT project management
  • Manages and controls a centralized portfolio of IT projects
  • Synchronizes IT department plans with overall division plans and division plans with overall University goals and objectives
  • Conducts project portfolio modeling and analysis
  • Promotes project management as a core competency

Integrated IT Strategy & Planning
  • Coordinates the IT disciplinary and departmental efforts
  • Establishes and maintains a centralized framework for IT project governance
  • Establishes strategic project management policies and guidelines
  • Defines, implements, communicates and standardizes IT performance and project-based metrics
  • Develops, analyzes, evaluates, coordinates, maintains and distributes IT policies, procedures, proposals and technical communication
IT Communications
  • Provides communication for all major IT projects, outages, informational and emergency notifications
  • Creates processes and procedures to improve IT communications via multuiple channels
  • Communicates University technology initiatives to the Higher Education community and its partners
  • Develops and coordinates periodic, quarterly and annual reports to the Board of Trustees and University Executive Management
  • Maintains the content, organization and look & feel of the Fordham IT and Confirmare websites
  • Designs, writes, and edits technical documents and other media


University Information Security Office
University Information Security

University Information Security is responsible for the overall direction of information security functions relating to Fordham University, specifically: IT risk management, security policies, security awareness, and security architecture. Areas of responsibility include security of enterprise-wide applications, communications, networks and computing services.

 
 IT Security IT Security deals daily with the security of the data and data processing assets of the University.  IT Security proactively protects the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information in the custody of, or processed by, Fordham University.  This department guards the network infrastructure, servers, desktops and University data against, theft, misuse, breach and compromise.

The IT Security department is responsible for the deployment and implementation of information regarding security policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.  This department also oversees the forensic analysis of security events, leads Fordham's Incident Response Team (IRT) in the unlikely event of a security incident and manages all security applications, hardware and implementations.
   
IT Risk and Integrity The IT Risk and Integrity group is tasked with the duties of mitigating the overall risk to the University's IT resources.  This department within the UISO develops, implements and maintains a cogent and comprehensive Information Security and Assurance Program that incorporates: Security Policy and Compliance, Security Awareness, Security Risk Assessment and Mitigation and Information Assurance.

IT Risk and Integrity develops, maintains and publishes information regarding security policies, procedures, standards and guidelines.  IT Risk and Integrity also devotes attention to legislative and compliance related areas associated with Information Technology.  More often then not, this includes creating awareness and documenting the requirements contained in various legislation of interest to institutes of higher education.
