When will I receive notice that my position is being eliminated?
You will be informed in writing at least 60 days prior to your last day of service with MMC.
Will I be entitled to Salary Continuation if my position is eliminated?
Yes. Salary Continuation will be available to all affected employees as a result of the reduction-in-force. You will be afforded the same Salary Continuation benefit that is available to Fordham University Administrators when positions are eliminated through a reduction-in-force. Prior to your separation date you will be advised by Human Resources of the details of your Salary Continuation benefit.
How will Salary Continuation payments be distributed?
You will continue to receive a bi-weekly pay check or direct deposit through the end of your salary continuation period.
If I find another position external to the University, will my Salary Continuation end?
No, your Salary Continuation will continue. However, if you obtain employment within the University the Salary Continuation will end as of the effective date of the new University assignment.
What date will be used to establish my eligibility for salary continuation if my position is affected by a RIF?
Your original Marymount hire date will be used to establish your service date (benefits eligible date).
How will my medical benefits be affected?
You will continue to be enrolled in the Marymount College Medical Plan offerings through the end of the month in which your salary continuation period ends. If you are enrolled in the Voluntary Dental plans, your coverage will also end at the same time.
Will I be eligible for COBRA when my employment with MMC ends?
Yes. The Human Resources Department will notify you in writing of your COBRA rights prior to the termination of your salary continuation.
How long will I be entitled to COBRA coverage?
Under the law you are entitled to a minimum of 18 months of continuous coverage provided you make timely premium payments the first of each month.
Can I convert my dental coverage under COBRA?
Yes, you may continue dental coverage under COBRA provided you make timely premium payments the first of each month.
What will happen to my Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and LTD coverage?
You do have the option of converting your Life Insurance coverage to an individual policy provided you apply within 30 days after your employment ends. Your Accidental Death & Dismemberment and LTD coverage will terminate the end of the month in which your employment ends.
Will contributions to my 403(b) retirement plan continue during salary continuation?
Yes. During your salary continuation period the College will continue to contribute toward your 403(b), provided you make the mandatory contributions. When your salary continuation ends, contributions to your Basic Retirement Annuity will cease. You may not make future salary deferred contributions to your (Basic) Retirement Plan, or Supplemental Tax-Deferred Retirement Annuity Plan accounts.
What will happen to my 403(b) retirement accounts?
After your salary continuation ends the funds may remain in the investment instrument(s) you selected. The money will remain tax deferred until you withdraw it. You also have the option of rolling over the funds into an IRA or another qualified plan pursuant with the guidelines set-forth by the investment carrier.
Upon notice of my RIF, what if I decide to retire?
Upon the completion of your salary continuation period you will be eligible to withdraw your money or begin to receive annuity payments from your Retirement Plan account(s).
Will I receive Tuition Remission benefits for my dependents and me when I leave the College?
You and your eligible dependents will receive the same tuition remission benefits in effect that are available to Fordham University administrators. Additional information regarding this benefit will be provided in writing, prior to your separation from the College.
What will happen to my unused and accrued vacation days?
You will be paid for all documented unused and accrued vacation time.
What will happen to my unused and accrued sick and personal days?
Unlike vacation time, unused and accrued sick and/or personal days will not be paid out upon termination.
Will I be eligible for unemployment benefits?
You may be eligible for unemployment benefits. In some states, such as New York, you may collect unemployment benefits while you are receiving salary continuation. We suggest that you contact your local unemployment office to determine your eligibility.
May I apply for a position at Fordham University?
Yes. Consideration will be given to MMC employees applying for positions for which they may be qualified at Fordham University.
If I receive new employment in a position at Fordham University, will my years at Marymount be applied?
If you are appointed to an administrative position at Fordham University, your years of service at MMC will be considered creditable at Fordham University. If you secure a clerical/maintenance position, your years of service at MMC cannot be considered creditable and the terms of the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement will prevail.
Will the University offer outplacement assistance to MMC employees who are part of the reduction-in-force?
Yes. Additional information regarding this benefit will be provided in writing prior to your separation from the College.
