Welcome to the Office of the Associate Vice President: Chief Research Officer. We are responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the University's research policies and programs, and promoting research activities across the University's academic units and among faculty and students. We champion research collaboration with both other institutions, such as our neighbors, the New York Botanical Garden and the Wildlife Conversation Society - Bronx Zoo, and our international research centers and institutes.
The Office of Research oversees the work of several other research units: the Office of Faculty Fellowships and Development, the Office of Sponsored Programs and the Institutional Review Board. The Office of Faculty Fellowship and Development facilitates the Faculty Fellowship Program, the internal Research Grants Program, and the Publications Expense Program. The Office of Sponsored Programs assists faculty with the development, review and submission of external grant proposals. The Internal Review Board ensures that standards are met for the conduct of research on human subjects.
In addition to these units, we also assist in the coordination of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, the Office of Research Integrity, and the Radiation Safety Program, and serve as the primary academic affairs liaison to the University Research Council.
