Dr. Catherine Batt (English) has received a grant of $1,000 from the Folger Institute to study Second Shepherds’ Play.
 
Dr. Joshua Brown and Dr. Stephanie Jones (Psychology) have received a grant in the amount of $2,006,898 from the National Institute of Health titled Health Risk Behavior in Late Childhood: A Longitudinal Random Trial.
 
Dr. Joshua L. Brown (Psychology) has received a grant supplement in the amount of $14,107 from the William T. Grant Foundation titled Changing Classroom Climate and Other School Micro-Contexts to Promote Children’s Social-Emotional and Academic Development: The 4Rs Setting-Level Study; and a grant in the amount of$524,340 from the William T. Grant Foundation titled Changing Classroom Climate and Other School Micro-Contexts to Promote Children’s Social-Emotional and Academic Development: The 4Rs Setting-Level Study.
 
Rev. Martin Chase, S.J. (English) has received a grant in the amount of $40,000 from The American Council of Learned Societies entitled Old Norse Christian Poetry at the End of the Middle Ages for the period covering AY2008-09. He has also received a grant in the amount of $4,000 from The American-Scandinavian Foundation titled Old Norse Christian Poetry at the End of the Middle Ages.
 
Dr. J. Alan Clark (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $3,000 from the Environmental Defence Fund titled Evaluating use of newly-restored habitat by the threatened Bog Turtle.

Dr. Mary Beth Combs (Economics)
received a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Folger Institute to study Causation in Economic History.
 
Dr. Thomas Daniels (Calder Center), Dr. Richard Falco (Calder Center), and Dr. Amy Tuininga (Biology) have received a grant in the amount of $387,918 from the NIH titled Regulating I. Scapularis and the Role of Entomopathogenic Fungi.
 
Dr. Kunal Das (Physics) has received a renewal of the grant, Cottrell College Science Award, from the Research Corporation which totals $50,220.
 
Dr. George Demacopoulos and Dr.Aristotle Papanikolaou (Theology) secured a $20,000 grant from the Virginia H. Farah Foundation for the 2008 Orthodoxy in America Lecture.
 
Rev. George Drance, S.J. (Theatre and Visual Arts) through the Magis Theatre Company received a grant of $30,000 from the Winifred Johnson Clive Foundation for its production of The Witlings.
 
Dr. Edward Dubrovsky (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $377,929 from the National Science Foundation titled Molecular Basis of Juvenile Hormone Action in Insect Development.

Dr. Susan Dudash (Modern Languages and Literatures) has received a fellowship from the Medieval Institute at the University of Notre Dame titled The Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Medieval Studies, including an award in the amount of $40,000 for Giving Voice to the People: Poetic and Theological Responses to Social Class Conflict in Medieval France, 1270-1422.

Dr. Mary Erler (English)
received a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Folger Institute to study Second Shepherds’ Play.
 
Dr. Howard Everson (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $7,160 from the Council of Ivy Group Presidents titled Academic Index Study Proposal.
 
Dr. Maria Farland (English) received $4,000 from the Humanities Institute of the University at Buffalo, and $2,500 from the New York Historical Society, each for one month residency programs during 2007-2008.
 
Dr. Celia Fisher (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $1,512,371 from the National Institute on Drug Abuse titled Participant Perspective on Drug Use/HIV Research Ethics; $767,736 from the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism titled Fordham Resident Alcohol Prevention Program; and $400,000 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and Office for Research Integrity titled Mentoring the Responsible Conduct of Research.

Dr. Jeanne Flavin (Sociology and Anthropology) has received a Fulbright Award to study gender, family and crime in South Africa in 2008-09.

Dr. Lewis Freeman (Communication and Media Studies) received the 2008 ECA Urban Communicaton Foundation Prize for Translational Communication Research, for his research project titled Communicating 'Urban' in an Environmental Magnet Elementary School. 

Dr. Craig L. Frank (Biology) has received $2,500 from Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve titled Latitudinal Variations in the Recovery of Torpor Bouts.
 
Dr. Jon M. Friedrich (Chemistry) received two facilities use grants from the University of Chicago Geo, Soil, Environmental Consortium for Advanced Radiation Sources (GSE-CARS) and the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory.
 
Dr. Norma Fuentes-Mayorga (Sociology and Anthropology) has received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from The National Science Foundation/Social Science Research Foundation titled Children of Immigrants in Schools.
 
Professor Abby Goldstein (Theatre and Visual Arts) has received an artist’s residency at the Virginia Center for the Arts.
 
Dr. Jonathan Gray (Communication and Media Studies) has received a grant from National Association of Television Production Executives Faculty Fellowship to attend the Association’s annual convention.
 
Dr. Richard Gyug (History) has received a grant in the amount of $183,345 from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada as a co-investigator on the Monumenta liturgica beneventana project with Virginia Brown (principal investigator) and Roger E. Reynolds, Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies.
 
Dr. Allan J. Hazlett (Philosophy) has received a grant in the amount of $2,000 from the Mellon Foundation titled Secularism.
 
Dr. Ann Higgins-D’Alesssandro (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $92,091 from the NJ Department of Education titled Evaluation:Character Education Program; $188,273 from the U.S. Department of Education titled Partnerships in Character Education: NJCCE; and $12,000 from the Humane Education Organization titled The Evaluation of the Humane Education Program in New York City Middle Schools.
 
Dr. D. Frank Hsu, (Computer and Information Science) and Dr. Damian Lyons (Computer and Information Science) have received a grant in the amount of $39,619 from Mr. Zaiqi Wang titled The Wang Grant for Student Research Support and Tuition.
 
Dr. Stephen Hultgren, (Theology) received an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship to do research at the University of Tubingen, Germany.
 
Dr. Carey Kasten, (Modern Languages and Literatures) received $500 and Honorable Mention, NEMLA Summer Fellowship for a project titled Authorial Doubling in Francisco Nieva's Dramatic Adaptations.
           
Rev. Joseph Koterski, S.J. (Philosophy) has received the following fellowships Visiting Fellow at Blackfriars in Oxford from the Institute for the Psychological Sciences and a Winter Quarter Bannan Fellowship from Santa Clara University.

Dr. Katie Little (English) has received a fellowship in the amount of $50,000from the National Endowment for the Humanities titled Transforming Work: Early ModernPastoral and Medieval Poetry, and a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Folger Institute to study Second Shepherds’ Play.
 
Dr. James S. MacDonall (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $234,244 from The National Institute of Mental Health titled Modeling Choice in Interventions for Behavior Disorders.
 
Dr. Christopher Maginn (History) has received a grant in the amount of $41,000 from the Irish government to oversee the introduction of Irish language courses at Fordham University.
 
Professor Matthew Maguire (Theatre and Visual Arts) received a grant of $8,000 from the New York State Council on the Arts, through his theatre company, Creation Production Company, for professional performances in New York City. He was awarded a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship for Playwriting of $10,000.
 
Professor Elizabeth Margid (Theatre and Visual Arts) was awarded $5,000 from the Jim Henson Foundation for, The Martian Chronicles, and $6,500 from the Vanden Heuvel Foundation for The Martian Chronicles.
 
Dr. Sophie Mitra (Economics) has received $33,880 and $22,401 from The Nathan Klein Institute of Psychiatric Research/National Institute for Mental Health for grants titled Center to Study Recovery and Social Contexts and Adapting a Health Capital Model, and $12,556 from the Veterans Affairs Administration titled Decomposition of Gender Difference in Cholesterol Control with Veterans.
 
Dr. Maureen O'Connell (Theology) has received a grant in the amount of $40,000 from the Louisville Institute titled Sacred Beauty in Secular Blight: Community Murals, Theological Aesthetics and Urban Renewal.
 
Dr. Aristotle Papanikolaou (Theology) received a grant of $38,740 from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation titled Confession and Desire.
 
Dr. Costas Panagopoulos (Political Science) was awarded a $10,000 grant from the Rockefeller Brothers Fund titled Clean Elections: Public Finance Conference.
 
Dr. Giorgio Pini (Philosophy) has received grants in the amount of EUR 6,860 from the Belgian Research Council (Onderzoekraad) and EUR 4,500 from the De Wulf-Mansion Center (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven) for his project titled A Study of Giles of Rome, Medieval Philosopher and Theologian.
 
Dr. Brian Purnell and Dr. Oneka LaBennett (African and African American Studies) have received a grant in the amount of $18,025 from the New York Council for the Humanities titled The Bronx is Building: The Bronx as a Site of Political Mobilization.
 
Dr. Carina Ray (History) received a grant in the amount of 25,000EU from The Prince Claus Fund for Culture and Development to fund the international conference Darfur and the Crisis of Governance in Sudan.
 
Dr. Monica Rivera -Mindt (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $929,828 from the National Institutes of Health titled Medication Adherence Among HIV+ Hispanics.
 
Dr. Joan E. Roberts (Natural Science) received grants-in-kind from Brookhaven National Laboratory; and another from the National Institute of Environmental Sciences, NIH, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
 
Dr. Barry Rosenfeld (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $105,675 from Sloan Kettering Cancer Center titled Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy in Advanced Cancer.
 
Dr. Robert Ross (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $924,396 from the National Institute of Health/National Cancer institute titled Phenotypic Plasticity in Human Neuroblastoma.
 
Dr. Nina Rowe (Art History and Music) has received a grant in the amount of $4,000 from the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, a Fritz Halbers Fellowship Award in the amount of $3,000 from the Leo Baeck Institute, and Sylvan C. Coleman and Pamela Coleman Memorial Fund Art History Fellowship from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, for her book In the Shadow of the Cathedral: Jews, Christians and Images of Triumph in the Medieval City.
 
Dr. Berish Rubin (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $120,000 from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene titled Investigate Therapeutic Modalities for Familial Dysautonomi; a grant in the amount of $114,320 from the FD NOW titled Study of the Impact of Nutritional Supplements on RNA Splicing. He has also received $108,000 from the FD Hope Foundation titled FD Hope Grant; $49,000 from the Eric Alterman Foundation for FD Cure titled Monitoring the ability of EGCG to modulate the causative splicing defect in FD; $100,000 from Dor Yeshorim titled Familial Dysautonomia: analysis of mutations in IKBKAP and their role in the pathophysiology of the disease; $26,000 from Cure FD Foundation titled Gene expression in tissues derived from individuals with FD; and $85,000 from NYC Dept. of Health and Mental Hygiene titled Familial Dysautonimia Research.
 
Dr. Lonnie R. Sherrod (Psychology) received a $30,000 grant from the Foundation for Child Development for the Riecken Dissertation Fellowships in Applied Developmental Psychology.
 
Dr. Petr Shibayev (Physics) received a grant in the amount of $39, 960 from L’Oreal USA, Inc. titled Novel Responsive Cholesteric Polymers for Cosmetic Applications.
 
Dr. Asif A. Siddiqi (History) has received a grant in the amount of $97,996 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) titled Postcolonial to the Global: The Making of the Indian Space Program, 1962-1992.
 
Dr. Daniel Soyer (History) has received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from The Lucius N. Littauer Foundation, Inc. titled Liberal Party of New York State, 1944-2002.
 
Dr. Janet Sternberg (Communication and Media Studies) has received grants totalling $20, 456 from the U.S. Department of Education Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education titled U.S./Brazil Consortium: Building Socially Responsible Leaders.
 
Rev. Michael Suarez, S.J. (English) received $2,500 from the Folger Shakespeare Library in support of a research project entitled Plate Subscription and the Patronage of Engravings for Learned Books in England from John Ogilby to the Oxford University Press.
 
Dr. Kirsten Swinth (History) has received a grant in the amount of $500 from Smith College and a grant in the amount of $40,000 from the American Council of Learned Societies for her book, Bringing Home the Bacon and Frying it Too: A Cultural History of the Working Mother in America, 1950 to 2000.
 
Dr. Harold Takooshian (Psychology) received a mini-grant of $1,800 from the Society for Study of Social Issues, to document the history of psychology and social issues in New York City. He also received a mini-grant of $3,000 from the APA Office of International Affairs, to promote international psychology activities at the United Nations.
 
Dr. William Thornhill (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $198,000 from the American Heart Association/Heritage Affiliate titled Potassium Channel Biosynthesis Mechanism; a grant in the amount of $66,000 from the American Heart Association titled Potassium channel biosynthesis mechanisms; and a grant in the amount of $87,500 from NIH titled Potassium channel gating mechanisms.
 
Dr. Ebru Turan (History) has received a research fellowship in the amount of $64,000 from the Institute for Historical Studies at the University of Texas-Austin titled Exploration of Global Borders, and a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Folger Institute to study Constantinople.
 
Dr. Rosemary Wakeman (History) has received a grant in the amount of $7,000 from the Florence Gould Foundation titled The Heroic City: Paris in the 1950’s.
 
Dr. John Wehr (Biological Sciences) has received a grant in the amount of $324,471 from the National Science Foundation titled REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Site Proposal: Summer Undergraduate Program.
 
Dr. Gary Weiss (Computer and Information Science) has received a grant for $25,000 from Citigroup Corp. titled Enhancing Anti-Money Laundering Systems using Machine Learning Methods.
 
Dr. Frederick Wertz (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $68,760 from The College Board titled Graduate Assistance in Psychology/Research and Analysis.
 
Xiolan (Ellen) Zhang, (Computer and Information Science) (Co-Principal Investigator) has received a grant from Sun Microsystems SPOTS Equipment, in the amount of $1,100, titled Building a Campus Mobile Sensor Network Test-bed using SUN SPOTS.
 
Dr. Tiffany Yip (Psychology) has received a grant in the amount of $955,925 from the National Institutes of Health titled Ethnic Identity & Psychological Adjustment among African, Asian & Latino Youth.

Professor Amjad Umar received a Fulbright Senior Specialist Award from the United States Council for International Exchange of Scholars.

Dr. Eric Chen has received $4,500 and $4,410 from the American Psychological Association for grants titled Preparing Future Faculty in Psychology and CEMRRAT Implementation Fund.

Dr. Rita Kabasakalian has received a grant in the amount of $335,000 from The National Science Foundation titled Improving Teacher Practices in 9th & 10th Grade Math Classes.
 
Dr. Rita Kabasakalian and Dr. Melkana Brakalova (Mathematics, Fordham College and Graduate Arts and Sciences), as co-principal investigators, have received a grant in the amount of $330,000 from NSF Grant 0554219 titled Analyzing and Improving Teacher Practices to Foster Discourse in 9th and 10th Grade Mathematics Classes.
 
Dr. Kathleen King has received a grant in the amount of $52,752 from The McGraw-Hill Companies titled Financial Literacy Podcast for the 21st Century.
 
Dr. Jennie Park-Taylor has received a grant in the amount of $12,287 from the Hunts Point Alliance for Children titled Needs Assessment for Children & Families in Hunts Point, and a grant in the amount of $27,000 from the Hunts Point Alliance and The Hecksher Foundation for Children titled Hunts Point Alliance for Children Capacity Building for Research & Evaluation.
 
Dr. Mitchell Rabinowitz and Dr. William Whitten II have received a grant in the amount of $889,937 from the U.S. Department of Education titled Guided Cognition for Unsupervised Learning of Mathematics.
 
Dr. Joanna Uhry has received a grant in the amount of $2,911,875 from the Hello Friend/ Ennis William Cosby Foundation for her work titled Young Readers at Risk: The Ennis William Cosby Graduate Certificate Program.
 
In addition, The Graduate School of Education, in conjunction with the Office of the Bronx Borough President and several City Council representatives, has helped secure $574,000 for their Partnership Support Organization schools in the past year.

Rev. Claudio Burgaleta, S.J., has received a grant in the amount of $100,000 from The Humanitas Foundation titled Latino Outreach Program.

Dr. John Beam has received a grant in the amount of $344,129 from MOUSE, Inc. titled Refining the MOUSE Squad Model - Year 2/Phase III; a grant in the amount of $196,098 from the Young Women's Christian Association of New York City titled YWCA Early Childhood Centers Program Evaluation Project; a grant in the amount of $160,592 from the YMCA of Greater NY (sub from NYS DoE) titled After School Program Evaluation - Virtual Y Model & Validation; and $70,497 from the YMCA of Greater NY/ New York State Department of Education titled After School Program Evaluation-21st Century Learning.
 
Dr. Patricia Brownell has received a grant in the amount of $75,000 from the John A. Hartford Foundation/New York Academy of Medicine titled Partnership Program for Professionalism in Elder Care.
 
Dr. Maddy Cunningham has received $2,268,442 in grants from the following: the New York City Administration for Children's Services titled  Child Care Training Program Support;  Curriculum Development, Quality Assurance and Administrative Consultant;  the Dutchess County BOCES titled Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse & Mistreatment Instruction; the Westchester Department of Community Mental Health titled Early Step Forward Program; the Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services, Inc. titled Identification & Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect; the New York City Department of Education titled Training Deliveries Family Assistants.
